Welcome to the National Gallery of Jamaica, the largest public art museum in the island and in the English-speaking Caribbean. So that you may enjoy a fulsome experience that is respectful of other visitors and our staff, as well as to ensure the safety and appropriate management of our one-of-a-kind collections and exhibitions, we strongly recommend that you adhere to the following regulations:
- Please wear appropriate clothing to the NGJ and kindly avoid clothing that could considered intimate, skimpy or as ‘beach wear’.
- Bags and luggage should be left at the security desk. If you do not wish to leave your bags, they are subject to search upon entering and leaving the NGJ. Large bags and backpacks are not allowed inside the gallery under any circumstance.
- All entry and tour fee payments must be made in the Gift Shop, at the cashier’s booth.
- Guided Tours of the NGJ are conducted by appointment only and finalised before the arrival date. For further information, contact the NGJ Education Department.
- Food and drink should only be consumed in the Coffee Shop area and not in the exhibition spaces.
- Photography using camera phones or other small hand-held devices is allowed. However:
- Persons wishing to use professional-grade cameras and camera systems for photography or who would like to film or create videos at the NGJ must be authorised by the NGJ management before the visit. Please speak with the receptionist for further details.
- The use of a ‘selfie stick’ is prohibited.
- Please ensure that the “Flash” feature on your device of choice is disengaged or turned off during usage.
- Once you begin your visit in the exhibition areas, do avoid touching any of the works of art.
- Please ensure that you follow the instructions of NGJ staff at all times inside the gallery.
