Happy International Museum Day

Today we celebrate museums—spaces that facilitate learning about history, culture and heritage, as well preserve cultural objects and information.

In Jamaica we have a variety of museums that each cater to their own niche. At the National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ) we focus on Jamaican and Caribbean art and related material. These artworks can come in a number of mediums, such as paintings, sculptures, digital works and more. We also house a small library centred around art as well as other related documentation to preserve our cultural knowledge for generations to come.

The NGJ falls under the Institute of Jamaica (IoJ) and is one of the many museums they are parent to.
